(He/him)
Address: Oddmund Raudberget, Vålerenggata 38, 0657 Oslo
The studio is open Sunday 19 April from 12-17

I am a classical artist and work within a figurative and realistic idiom, with a main emphasis on sculpture, but also painting, drawing and medal art. My artistry is characterized by a strong interest in humans, animals and work – especially the horse as a motif, both as a working animal and a symbol.
My works are characterized by a solid artisanal foundation, a clear understanding of form and a classical approach to volume, movement and proportion. Many of the works are based on the dignity of work, historical experiences and the physical presence of the body in the world. I have had a number of exhibitions at home and abroad and regularly participated in the Autumn Exhibition, and am represented in a number of national and international collections.
Parallel to my artistic work, I have had a long pedagogical career as a college lecturer in sculpture and drawing at the Statens Håndverks- og Kunstindustriskole (later the Oslo National Academy of the Arts), where I taught for several decades and had over 3,000 students.

Extended Image Description (for the visually impaired):

The image shows a group of five realistic sculptures arranged outdoors along a low stone or concrete wall. The sculptures are made of bronze and metal, displaying varied surfaces and patina. From the left, an elderly bearded man is depicted as a half-figure, his head slightly bowed. Next to him stands a nude female figure in full length, with one arm bent behind her head and a relaxed, confident posture. At the center of the group is a child’s bust in golden bronze, with short hair and a serious, focused expression. To the right of the child stands a male bust with pronounced facial features and a calm gaze, mounted on a pedestal. Furthest to the right is an elderly male bust with a wrinkled face and a closed, contemplative expression.

Behind the sculptures grows a large tree trunk and withered climbing plants with yellow autumn leaves. The background consists of a weathered, white-painted wooden wall with visible cracks and signs of aging, giving the image a sense of time, history, and transience. The sculptures appear as studies of the human body, age, and character, and the interaction between art and nature creates a calm, poetic atmosphere.

Extended Image Description (for the visually impaired):

The image shows a large figurative sculpture in progress inside an artist’s studio. At the center stands a monumental model of a man on horseback, created in a light-colored material such as clay or plaster. The horse is depicted in motion, with one foreleg raised and its body tense and powerful. The rider sits barefoot on the horse’s back. He has long hair and a beard and raises a curved sword high above his head in his right hand, suggesting a dramatic moment of battle or triumph. His left hand holds the reins. The figure is muscular and anatomically detailed, with clearly defined arms, chest, and legs.

The sculpture stands on a sturdy wooden work platform. Surrounding it, the studio is densely filled with tools, materials, and other sculptural works. In the background, several busts and figures can be seen on shelves and workbenches, some finished and others still in progress. To the left stands a rough, unfinished wooden figure, partially wrapped with tape. Above the sculpture hangs a chain and hoist used for lifting heavy works. The walls and shelves are crowded with tools, molds, plastic-covered objects, and casting materials. A framed print hangs on the wall to the right.

The space is lit with soft, natural light and conveys a strong sense of an active working environment. Overall, the image communicates artistic process, craftsmanship, and concentration, with a clear focus on classical figurative sculpture, anatomy, and movement.

Extended Image Description (for the visually impaired):

The image depicts three figurative sculptures of nude female figures displayed inside an artist’s studio. The sculptures are modeled in a light-colored material such as plaster or clay and vary in size and pose. Two standing female figures are placed on wooden pedestals in the background. Both figures are upright and anatomically detailed, with relaxed yet introspective postures. One figure has her arms crossed in front of her chest, her head slightly inclined downward, while the other stands with her arms resting naturally at her sides, her gaze directed forward with a calm, neutral expression.

In the foreground stands a smaller female figure, positioned slightly in front of the others. She rests one hand behind her head and the other on her hip, creating a gentle contrapposto stance that emphasizes the curve of her torso and hips. Her expression appears serene and self-assured.

Surrounding the sculptures are the tools and objects of the artist’s workspace. A painter’s palette with dried multicolored paint hangs on the wall behind them. To the right, a framed still-life painting depicting fruit and a candle is mounted on the wall. Below, a cluttered workbench holds brushes, sculpting tools, containers, and materials, reinforcing the sense of an active studio environment. The lighting is soft and subdued, highlighting the surfaces and subtle textures of the sculptures and conveying a quiet, contemplative atmosphere focused on form, anatomy, and artistic study.
