Annike Flo
(She/her)
Address: Hausmania, Hausmanns gate 34, 0182 Oslo
Floor: 4 etg
Room number: 1408 B
The studio is open Saturday 18 April from 12-17
Annike Flo’s practice is interdisciplinary, merging a focus on living beings and materials with video, photography and writing. Drawing from scenography, science, and occult perspectives, Flo explores how humans co-manipulate matter, time, and space with other entities, living or otherwise. Emerging through fieldwork, site-specific responses, speculation, and interdisciplinary collaboration her work dwell in the encounters between species, systems, and the unseen.
Flo is currently an artist in residence with Anthropogenic Soils at the University of Oslo (2023–2028) producing the work Jærtegn. Together with Lexie Owen she runs the long-term artistic research project Afterlives dealing with the materiality of death and mourning.

In my studio
In my studio you will meet elements of the installations Jærtegn (2025-2027), Necromantic Kitchen/Afterlives (2025-2027) as well as elements from earlier works such as Pure Filth and “Sluts are Chimera are Sluts are Chimera”. There might also be in-process work for the project Putrescene, working with magickal-political evocations for queer erotics.
Planned projects and exhibitions
In 2026, I am working on the artistic research project Afterlives, the interdisciplinary research project Anthropogenic Soils(University of Oslo), the work Jærtegn, the development of the solo project Putrescene, as well as preparations for an exhibition at the Norwegian Sculptors Society in 2027.
AFTERLIVES, artistic research project with artist Lexie Owen.
Afterlives is an artistic research project focused on death cultures and the material afterlives of bodies, seeking new forms of mourning and remembrance that foreground decomposition as a continuous, cyclical, and generative process.
2026
Artica Svalbard: Artist residency, August–October.
Five cemetery walks: Featuring guests from various worldviews and professions, Oslo and Longyearbyen.
2027
Necromantic Kitchen: Exhibition at NOBA, Ås. The work explores the material aspects of death by linking the metabolism of the cemetery to human digestive processes, incorporating edible plants, honey, and other elements harvested from graveyards
JÆRTEGN, Sør-Varanger 2025, NOBA 2027
Jærtegn is a work in three parts: a textile installation, a video piece, and a fanzine.
The textile installation of entangled nematodes scaled up to human size, haunted the area of Sør-Varanger over nine days and nine nights, while a video work and a fanzine haunted the printers and screens at the local library and biological station. In Jærtegn, haunting becomes a way of being in conversation with soil as a medium; in continuous change interacting with the world around it, rendering connections between place, science, politics and scale legible. Jærtegn will be shown at NOBA in Ås, 2027.
THE NORWEGIAN SCULPTORS SOCIETY, autumn 2027
In collaboration with artist Lexie Owen we are developing a site specific piece for The Norwegian Sculptors Society in Oslo.
VERDENSTEATERET
I am a part of the theatre collective Verdensteateret. In 2026 we are developing a new work, as well as touring our piece Flat Sun in Norway and Europe.
PUTRESCENE
Building on material practices from demonology, Putrescene is a magickal-political evocation used to facilitate, feed and empower specific erotic human–material relations —antithetical to currents of clean aesthetics and human supremacy, as entities in their own right. Putrescene will be developed 2026 through 2028.
