I work with painting, drawing, and sculpture. My practice explores the interplay between form, format, and colour, seeking an expression that brings together intuition and structure.
In my paintings, I combine oil paint and collage. I draw quick pencil and chalk sketches on the collaged elements before integrating them into the painted surface. Forms are repeated across the compositions in varying scales, colours, and textures, with subtle variations, as a way of probing the meaning and origins of form. The work engages in a kind of visual archaeology, searching for structures rooted in something beyond the immediately visible. Tools, animal bodies, and hands – symbols of action, power, and physical labour recur throughout the imagery.
