18—19 April

Christian Messel

(He/him)
Address: Linoljefabrikken, Ivan Bjørndalsgate 27, 0472 Oslo
Floor: 2
The studio is open Sunday 19 April from 12-17

Many paintings and photographs have an underlying ideological message that highlights events and individuals as historically relevant. But who is significant, and what makes some events more important and more valuable than others? I am interested in what readings arise when important points of reference (main characters, status symbols, etc.) in the original subject are omitted – either by introducing new pictorial elements, or by removing parts of the subject.
