Madelen Isa Lindgren (b. 1990, Fredrikstad) works with sculpture in metal, glass, and leather. Through the manipulation of materials and the imitation of natures own structures, she develops sculptural strategies of survival and care. Her works often appear as moments of transformation, as frozen stages within a cyclical sense of time – forms such as cocoons, shields, and tentacles articulate temporary layers of exile and defense. Within these constructions, the materials’ inherent vulnerability and strength are brought together in hybrid alliances that both protect and open up new connections between the body, its surroundings, and the unknown.

(EN) As part of Oslo Open, the public is invited to an artist talk with Madelen Isa Lindgren at the new artist-run exhibition space Spjeld, Saturday 13:00. Lindgren will present a solo exhibition featuring a series of new sculptures. The talk offers insight into the artist’s processes and her exploration of material, form, and the development of the new works. Visitors will gain a closer understanding of how ideas, experiments, and methods form the basis for the finished sculptures.
