Yu Shuk Pui Bobby is an artist and filmmaker working with moving image, installation, writing and food-based practice. She explores how body, memory and cultural translation are entangled with trauma, humour and everyday gestures. Through films, performative dinners and participatory projects she works with family members, migrant communities and women’s collectives to investigate intergenerational silence, care and repair. Recent projects such as The Piles We Carry and Curses: Final Girls use speculative storytelling to turn shame, illness and fear into shared rituals and soft resistance. She lives and works between Hong Kong and Oslo.

In my studio

In my studio at Oslo Rådhus you step into a small kitchen-living room rather than a white cube. You can see work-in-progress films, scripts, props and notes from my Cooking Therapy projects, and sometimes smell something simmering on the stove. Visitors are welcome to sit down, have tea, and talk about food, family stories, fear and humour in my work.
