The anatomy of fallout

A collaborative installation and performance by Carlo Allemano and Astrid
Omberg.

The Concept
The anatomy of fallout is a multidisciplinary exploration of the soul’s annihilation, tracing the terrifying parallels between the intimate collapse of a relationship and the ultimate destruction of a city. Through a triptych of grief—three distinct «stations» of pain—the artists map the topography of loss, moving from personal abandonment and separation to the devastating
historical trauma of Hiroshima.

The Installation & Performance
At the center of the exhibition space, artist Astrid Omberg constructs a visceral anatomy of grief: sculpted hearts connected by a fragile network of paper veins. These delicate arteries represent the vulnerability of human attachment, easily torn and highly combustible.

The exhibition is divided into three stations, serving as monuments to different scales of suffering:
Station I: The pain of personal abandonment.
Station II: The lingering agony of separation.
Station III: The collective, instantaneous obliteration of Hiroshima.

The installation is activated through a visceral, live performance. As the central heart is set ablaze—the ultimate act of transmuting flesh and paper into ash Carlo Allemano anchors the destruction with a haunting vocal performance. Through original poetry and song, the voice acts as the surviving echo of the blast.

The Impact
By juxtaposing the micro-trauma of a broken heart with the macro-trauma of an atomic bomb, the artists ask a profound question: How does the human soul process absolute devastation? “The anatomy of fall out” is not merely an exhibition about pain; it is a ritual of bearing witness to what remains after the fire burns out.
