Naeun Kang is a South Korean artist based in Oslo. She works primarily with painting and drawing to explore interpersonal complexities through visual metaphors. She translates emotional mechanisms and relational dynamics into constructed sceneries using associative imagery, relying on widely understood connections to convey narratives and suggest cause-and-effect relations. At the core of her practice lies an interest in things that are awkward, messy, vulnerable, broken, absurd, and hidden. She often draws from personal interactions, social observations, bodily experiences, eavesdropped anecdotes, popular culture and mythologies.
